Transcend 2GB DDR2-800 FB DIMM Available
Techtree News Staff Email Print
May 1, 2008
Transcend has announced availability of its 2GB DDR2-800 fully-buffered DIMM (FB-DIMM), designed specifically for Apple's Mac Pro system.

Apple Mac Pro is based on the powerful quad-core Intel Xeon 5400 platform, and has a total of eight FB-DIMM memory slots, of which only two are used in standard configuration (2 x 1GB FB-DIMMs). With the 2GB FB-DIMM, Mac Pro users can now populate all eight slots for a total capacity of 16GB.

Taking advantage of Mac Pro's architecture that supports four simultaneous memory channels, the new FB-DIMM module promises to offer transfer rates of up to 25GB per second. It comes equipped with high-performance Advanced Memory Buffer (AMB) and Error Correction Code (ECC) that monitors the data that gets transferred in and out of memory and performs real-time correction of any errors found.

With the included high-quality heat sinks equipped with cooling fans and conductive thermal compound, the new memory module also offers superior heat diffusion characteristics that considerably increase reliability and lower system temperature, according to the company.

Transcend's 2GB DDR2-800 DIMM designed specifically for Apple's Mac Pro system is available for Rs 5,500.
