Toshiba has unveiled Centrino 2-based laptops - Satellite Pro S300, Tecra M10 and Tecra A10.

It's literally raining laptops after Intel announced Centrino 2 platform for laptops. Following the Sony VAIO series line up announcement, Toshiba has unveiled Centrino 2-based laptops - Satellite Pro S300, Tecra M10 and Tecra A10. The latter two, Tecra M10 and A10 are based on Centrino 2 vPro technology, targeted at business customers.

Boasting greater graphics experience, wireless connectivity and better performance, all three laptops feature Easy Guard Technology, built-in docking capabilities and webcam with business card reader application. Easy Guard technology includes HDD security, keyboard protection, fingerprint reader and Trusted Platform Module. Common features in all three laptops are eSATA/USB 2.0 Combo ports, four Sleep-and-Charge USB Ports, 1.3 megapixel webcam integrated with business card reader application and "green computing" status.

Priced at $1299, Satellite Pro S300 includes Intel P8600 2.4GHz CPU and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD graphics chip. It also features docking support with Express Port Replicator and one-year standard limited warranty. Tecra series laptops are available with one to three-year standard limited warranty.

Both Tecra models have a common motherboard design intended to help consumers to lower cost of servicing and support. Tecra M10 with a 14.1-inch screen is currently priced at $1399, while price of A10 is yet to be announced.

These are reported to be just paper launches of Centrino2. According to highly respected Anandtech, due to problems with Intel's new GM45 chipset-- we are not likely to see Centrino2 laptops even in USA for another month, and of course in India- not much later.
