The N299 enables storing and sharing of files across an entire network. It comes with 2 3.5" SATA hard disk bays that can store up to 2TB of data.

Thecus Technology has a new home Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device -- the N299 -- that allows users to store and share files across an entire network.

The N299 comes with 2 3.5" SATA hard disk bays that can store up to 2TB of data. It comes with USB 2.0 ports for storage expansion.

Users have the option to choose between Redundant Array of Independent or Inexpensive Disks (RAID) 0, 1, or Just a Bunch Of Disks (JBOD), and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports for speedy access to stored data. Also, users can install a compatible wireless USB dongle for easy wireless access.

The N299 enables storing and sharing of digital media files with the built-in software suite, while the iTunes Server and Photo Web Server allow easy sharing of music and photos, respectively, with PCs throughout their network.

Meanwhile, the media server enables streaming of videos to compatible Universal Plug'n'Play (UPnP) devices, such as digital media receivers, thus giving the flexibility of enjoying the digital media anywhere in the house. In addition, the software's download manager allows users to schedule BT, HTTP, and FTP downloads during off-peak hours to save both time and energy.

Moreover, the N299 can even be used as a simple home surveillance server by plugging in a compatible IP webcam.

All these features are administered through a web-based interface compatible with any browser in Windows, Mac OS, and Linux-based environments.

The Thecus home NAS device is available for a price of Rs.18,000.
