Symantec Fixes Anti-virus Flaws

Security firm Symantec said it fixed vulnerabilities in its anti-virus software after it was notified of them by ISS-Force.
Symantec said it had resolved a potential remote access compromise vulnerability reported by ISS X-Force.
It said that the vulnerability was identified in an early version of a Symantec antivirus scanning module responsible for parsing UPX compressed files that is still in limited use in some Symantec security products.
Security firm Secunia had revealed in its advisory thirty anti-virus products from Symantec, some of them for consumers, are vulnerable to exploitation.
Some of the products are Norton Antivirus 2004 for Windows, Norton Internet Security 2004 (pro) for Windows, Norton System Works 2004 for Windows, Norton Antivirus 2004 for Macintosh, Norton Internet Security 2004 for Macintosh, Norton System Works 2004 for Macintosh, Norton Antivirus 9.0 for Macintosh, Norton Internet Security for Macintosh 3.0 and Norton System Works for Macintosh 3.0. It said that when the vulnerability is exploited, it would lead to execution of random code.
Symantec said software like Norton Antivirus 2003, Norton Internet Security 2003 (professional), Norton System Works 2003, Norton AntiVirus 2005, Norton Internet Security 2005, Norton System Works 2005 (Premier) and AntiVirus for Handhelds (does not install the DEC2EXE module).
Symantec said it had removed DEC2EXE engine used to parse compressed files. It said the engine will no longer be found in most of its products and future maintenance updates will see complete removal from all affected products.

Steps to Remove w32.gaobort.gen :- * Run a scan with the Norton product with the latest virus defitions. * check for the log report check the file is deleted if not make a note of the infected file :for example the infected file is c:\windows\system32\abcdef.exe infected with w32.gaobort.gen. * Steps to fix :- * Start the computer in safe mode with networking. * Go to the following locations :- c:\windows\system32 -- modify the date and check for the date created look for the latest files at the top check with the file name and if it is infected files delete the files. * same process check for the c:\windows\... c:\program files\... * check for add or remove programs check any unwanted s/w or program has been downloaded if so unistall it. * start > run> type regedit you will get registry editor window opened - take a backup of registry. * clik find next and search for the file abcdef.exe if you find that file - delete it. * Now restart the computer run a scan with norton again. * check whether you find the same file infected . * I hope you wont, if you find soo.. let me know... * i will guide you to run some Removal tools to fix it.. valanBose

Issue :- * Unable to Access only one paticular website , but you can access all other websites:- In such cases follow these steps : Delete the following file :- C:\WINDOWS\system32\clbdll.dll If in case,the file is not visible in the location. Then you have to try to delete the file with the help of Recovery Console with windows Xp CD. Deleting the file using Recovery Console :- ???????????????????? 1. Insert the Windows XP startup disk into the floppy disk drive, or insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted. 2. When the ?Welcome to Setup? screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console. 3. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console. 4. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER. 5. You will get the Command prompt window which shows C:\ 6. Now type the location of the file like : cd C:\WINDOWS\system32\ then press enter so it will takes you to. C:\WINDOWS\system32\ Now type del clbdll.dll so this file will be deleted.. 7. Now type Exit and take the CD out from the driver,and restart the computer. * Now clik start > Run> type Regedit. Take a Backup of registry. * Search the file clbdll.dll and delete it. * Restart the computer now and try to access the particular website,Now you can access. ValanBose Vss Elite

u need a combination of antibiotics, e.g. in order to make the protection a kind of broad-spectrum, like a drug, combine spybot search and destroy with javacools splyblaster and also instal adaware se personal. No colds. No coughs !!!!

Yes, I had problems with the Norton Internet Security program. I am not the administrator of my computer and I can not delete the program AT ALL!!!!
