An avid gamer himself, Spielberg described "Boom Blox" as this high-energy game with over 300 levels, over 30 wacky characters, and an easy-to-use in-game editor.

Director-Producer of classics like E.T., The Jurassic Park, and Schindler's List, Steven Spielberg, has now announced details of "Boom Blox", his new game for the Nintendo Wii.

"Boom Blox" qualifies as the first game developed in collaboration between Electronic Arts (EA) and Steven Spielberg, and is slated for a May release.

An avid gamer himself, Spielberg described "Boom Blox" as this high-energy game with over 300 levels, over 30 wacky characters, and an easy-to-use in-game editor that allows players to express themselves.

A fun game for kids and the entire family, "Boom Blox" offers brain-twisting challenges and cool scenarios that promise an altogether different level of Wii play in single-player, co-operative, and versus modes.

Players can interact with entertaining characters such as the block-laying chickens or baseball-throwing monkeys across four themed environments; i.e. Tiki, Medieval, Frontier, and Haunted.

Using props, blocks, or characters that have been unlocked during the game, they can remix any game level in the 'Create Mode'. Players can also virtually build anything that they dream up. And, they can share their designs with friends or use them to challenge others via WiiConnect24.

Spielberg said his inspiration for the game came while he was playing the Wii for the first time. "Boom Blox" plays on the enjoyment of building and knocking down blocks, something that appeals innately to kids and adults of all ages.

"Boom Blox" has been developed at EA's Los Angeles Studios, and hasn't yet been rated by the ESRB and PEGI. The game is also in production for mobile phones, with the mobile version widely available this Spring.
