The Delhi High Court has extended the stay on Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's (BSNL) mega-GSM equipment contract till November 30.

The Delhi High Court has extended the stay on Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's (BSNL) mega-GSM equipment contract till November 30.

Last month, telecom major Motorola moved the Delhi High Court, seeking to restrain the state-run BSNL from awarding the order for the installation of the proposed 45-million GSM lines to Ericsson and Nokia, the two companies short-listed by BSNL

However, the counsel for BSNL approached the bench comprising Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir, and put forth that the affidavit filed by Motorola has some new facts, and that they need time to be able to respond to the same.

Following this, the court adjourned the hearing till November 30. Meanwhile, the court bench has also given BSNL a week's time to file an additional affidavit in this case.

BSNL, which is planning on expanding its GSM network by nearly 45 million lines, being seen as the biggest telecom contract yet, had earlier disqualified Motorola from the bidding process citing technical grounds.
