DreamWorks has acquired movie rights to Scholastic Media's series of children's books, and related Internet and card games, called "The 39 Clues". Next, it looks forward to Steven Spielberg directing its silver-screen version.
"The 39 Clues", due for launch on September 9 by Scholastic Media, is a multi-platform series which comprises a ten-book series, a set of 350 collectible cards, and an online adventure game in which children stand to win a cash prize of $10,000 for solving the mystery.
Ricky Riordan wrote the first book, "The Mazes of Bones". The plot of the story, which is about a powerful family in New York, revolves round the incidents that take place after the death of the Cahills' matriarch. Mystery shrouds the wealth and power of the family.
According to Spielberg, "The 39 Clues" takes "creative leaps to expand the story experience from the pages of the books to multiple stages of discovery and imagination." Meanwhile, Scholastic Media is also the publisher of the bestselling "Harry Potter" series.
