Sony VAIO vs. iMac

Early impressions of the iMac-like VAIO JS190J are positive
Out of the three Sony all-in-one computers launched at CEDIA 2008, the Windows-based, mid-ranged, VAIO JS190J has got rave impressions. The machine features an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3GHz) processor, 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, 128MB (shared) Intel GMA X4500HD integrated graphics chip, a 500 GB Standard hard disk, a Blu-ray drive, and a 20-inch LCD monitor.
Some users may have an opinion regarding the 20-inch screen not being sufficient for running a Blu-ray movie in full resolution; however, the 20-inch monitor fits the price-to-performance ratio of $1,499.
Further, when you take a look at computer's keyboard, you cannot help but notice how similar it is to the one bundled with the Apple machines. But of course, Sony has been shipping laptops with this chicklet-style keyboard long before Apple adopted them as their own.
The JS190J has been rated as the best deal, both performance and price wise, amongst the all-in-ones available with a Blu-ray drive. Even though it costs more than its nearest competitor, the Apple iMac, it turns out Sony offers much more with this model.
In comparison with the iMac, the more expensive Vaio JS190J offers more CPU power, more memory, more hard disk space, a Blu-ray drive over a dual-layer DVD writer offered by Apple -- basically everything, and more. Of course, there's the debatable comparison between Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) and Mac OS X 10.5.4.
Other than Sony, other brands like HP and Averatec have launched all-in-one PCs this year. Apple has also revamped its iMac recently.
