Sony OLEDs Get Transparent, Bendy

And at 0.3 mm, ridiculously thin, too
"Rigid television screens, bulky laptops and still image posters are to be a thing of the past...," said Sony, as they and researchers at the Max Planck Institute showed off what has to be the most impressive OLED display yet. It's 11 inches diagonally, transparent (!), and a ridiculous 0.3 mm thick. You've handled paper that's thicker.
The display can be transparent because unlike LCD screens, OLED screens don't require backlights--the pixels themselves are sources of light. All that remains to be seen is how Sony plans to use this transparency. Will they use it for some sort of 3D effect? Will we see this in lieu of plastic transparencies? It really doesn't matter right now. Right now, we take a moment to gawk at this wondrous piece of technology.
