Skype 1.1 update brings support for Skype Voicemail and SMS

Skype developers have released a new update for Skype iPhone app that brings SMS and Voicemail support. Skype for iPhone arrived in April this year and did face some issues with the jailbroken iPhone OS based devices. However, the application still lacks the Push Notifications feature.

At the official Skype blog, announcement of Skype 1.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch was made along with conditions that the iPhone OS 2.2 or 3.0 version minimum. New features include the Skype voicemail and SMS support.

Other change includes improvement in look and feel. Apart from that Skype also supports 18 different languages including English. Of course, with the iPhone OS 3.0 here, many would be wondering why Push Notifications aren't being offered for Skype. Let's hope that the iPhone OS 3.1 update brings Push notifications.
