Skype users across the globe can now enjoy even simpler ways to talk with the release of Skype 3.0 beta for Windows.
Skype users across the globe can now enjoy even simpler ways to talk with the release of Skype 3.0 beta for Windows.
With a series of enhancements to the look and feel of Skype, the latest version also includes features that enable community-led chat and discussion. According to the company, the new enhancements aim at making Skype even simpler, and providing users with instant access to features.
Talking about the lastest Skype 3.0, Henry Gomez, chief marketing officer & director - world-wide operations, Skype, said, "We are introducing a number of new features with Skype 3.0 beta, including Click-to-Call, which lets users make calls to ordinary phone numbers when they are online. Click-to-call is so easy to use. For example, imagine you re searching online for a good place to eat, and you find a restaurant, and want to make a reservation. All you need to do is click on the number, and you can make a direct call using SkypeOut."
There are other features and benefits added to Skype 3.0 as well; for instance Skypecasts and Public Chats that allow users to join in multi-person community conversations and discussions.
Skypecasts, now available in beta, allow users to browse and join Skypecasts via a new 'live' window featured in Skype, allowing up to 100 members to talk at the same time. Whereas, Skype Public chats are open ongoing text conversations based on instant messaging. Skype users can join a public chat directly from Skype.
The Skype 3.0 beta features a more powerful and personal user interface, delivering a more simplified and personalized experience. Moreover, personalization has been improved through clickable mood messages and new wallpapers, allowing customization to suit the user's personality.

One of the problems of the current version is that it frequently gets dropped in video chat. Has this been addressed. The voice quality is definitely inferior to GTalk, Yahoo & MSN messenger. Please comment.
