Sony's long running SingStar series is going to face some stiff competition come November, when Microsoft in association with developer iNiS releases Lips.

Lips is a karaoke game that incorporates more than just 'singing' into its gameplay. Lips brings some new ideas and a Wii-styled motion sensing microphones. To offer a more inclusive experience, Lips offers a variety of options: if you are not the singing type, you can use the Xbox controller to add sound effects, or may be you like playing an instrument -- to which you can just pick up the Lips mic and use it like a tambourine.

If the game's collection of 40 songs (each with its own music video) doesn't please you, the game also allows you to play to your own music collection: you can plug an MP3 player into the 360, and play to any DRM-free song.
