Sergey Brin: Chrome, Android Convergence Soon

Brin believes subsequent versions of Android mobile OS may use a Chrome-based mobile browser.
According to Google co-founder Sergey Brin, subsequent versions of the Android mobile OS from Google may use a Chrome-based mobile browser.
Brin was speaking on the occasion of the Chrome launch event held on Tuesday. Although the two projects were developed independently, now that initial versions are out, we might see the convergence of both projects by the time final versions are released. What this could mean is that the Android platform might as well see an implementation of the Chrome browser, albeit in a different name.
Chrome Lite (or did Brin mean Chrome-like?) might just turn out to be the Android version of the world's newest web browser. Both Android and Chrome are both based on the Webkit rendering engine and the common roots will definitely help convergence.
While this kind of an implementation was always expected, it would be interesting to see if Google designs something on the lines of the Opera Mini - a cross-platform, full HTML web browser for handhelds.
