Seagate Introduces New Storage Line Up

This new generation of the Seagate FreeAgent family includes desktop and mobile storage options, for both Mac and Windows-based PCs.
Seagate has announced a new lineup of its FreeAgent external hard drives in India. This new generation of the Seagate FreeAgent family includes desktop and mobile storage options, for both Mac and Windows-based PCs.
The 2.5-inch FreeAgent Go, Seagate's most portable storage solution, offers features like shock and vibration protection, and docking option. Available in capacities up to 500GB of capacity, the FreeAgent Go comes in four colors. The variants of FreeAgent Go have a suggested retail price (MSRP) of Rs. 5,500 for 250GB, Rs. 7,000 for 320GB, and Rs. 12,000 for 500GB.
The FreeAgent Go Drive for Mac features a FireWire 800/400 interface, docking station, and carrying case. It is formatted for use with Mac OS X and Time Machine. FreeAgent Go for Mac is available this month for a suggested retail price of Rs. 9,000 for 250GB and Rs. 10,000 for 320GB.
The FreeAgent Desk drive and FreeAgent XTreme drive, both 3.5-inch high-capacity desktop offerings, can sit horizontally or stand vertically and are available in up to 1.5 Terabytes of storage capacity.
USB 2.0-interfaced FreeAgent Desk drive will be available for a MSRP of Rs. 7,500 for 500GB, Rs. 8,000 for 640GB and Rs. 13,000 for 1TB and Rs. 17,000 for 1.5TB.
The FreeAgent Desk drive for Mac features a brushed aluminum arctic silver finish that is a perfect match for the. The FreeAgent Desk Drive for Mac features a FireWire 800/400 connection, and is the current iMac Desktop and Time Machine ready, says the company. The FreeAgent Desk for Mac is available this month for a MSRP of Rs. 9,000 for 500GB, Rs. 14,500 for 1TB and Rs. 19,000 for 1.5TB.
Seagate FreeAgent XTreme drive is aimed at those who work with high-definition video and graphic files. Claims to deliver a 3GB per second transfer rate with the eSATA connection. This drive also includes FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 connection options. The FreeAgent XTreme is available worldwide for a suggested retail price of Rs. 9,500 for 500GB, Rs. 10,000 for 640GB, Rs. 14500for 1TB, and Rs. 17,000 for 1.5TB
Lastly, there are accessories like Dock and Case also included in the latest FreeAgent lineup. This comes with a maximum suggested retail price of Rs. 1,600.
All the mentioned Seagate FreeAgent Drives will be available in October 2008.
