The 2.8 beta version also gives users the option to access Boingo Wireless' world wide wifi networks for a per-minute charge
The 2.8
beta version just released -- apart from adding the screen sharing option --
will also give users the option to access Boingo Wireless' world wide wifi
networks for a per-minute charge. Now the most important fact to notice is that
none of the other Skype versions actually have these features yet. With the
screen-sharing feature, users would be able to share desktop screens with their
partner-users irrespective of the platform their systems are on. This means, if
your Skype partner is on Windows or even Linux for that matter, you'd still be
able to share your screen with them. However, since screen sharing is not ready
for those platforms, you would not be able to see their screens as of now. Other
notable feature inclusions are: Improved
chat management Chat
management allows users to set priorities to chats, so you can deal with the
most important messages first. This is useful in case you have a humongous
contact list and end up staring at the screen wondering which of the 35 chat
messages you received needs to be replied to first. Mood
message chat This
Twitter-like feature is nothing but an enhanced status message. With this
enabled, you can check your friends' updates and should you feel necessary,
update your own mood message. Skype has asked people not to inform folks at
Twitter about the fact that this resembles Twitter, so we're not saying
anything! Large(r)
profile pictures Profile
picture image size has been upped to 256x256 pixels leading to lesser eye
strain. Add
notes to contacts Forgot
who the person you added last week was, no problems! Use the notes feature to
jot down a one-liner on who the contact actually is so that you might not end
up scratching your head when someone springs in with an unexpected Hi! For more
