U.S. Vice-Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin's account was social engineered
The hack-attack on Sarah Palin's email ID might have been easier done than said. It was then thought that a hacker group known as the "Anonymous" was behind the hack. Not so. Fresh intel suggests that the hack was the handiwork of a forum member from Tennessee!
In a forum post, the hacker has admitted that it barely took him 45 minutes to "infiltrate" Palin's account. The mechanism was not a true hack but a rather simple password reset. All he needed was some basic background information regarding her and it was as easy as using her birthday, Zip Code and answering the security question which in this case was "Where did you meet your spouse?". (A question to which, Wikipedia provided the answer.)
He added that although he had hoped to find some information which would potentially derail Palin's campaign, he did not find anything incriminating in there. If that wasn't enough, the hacker was unaware that hacking in to a Governer's e-mail ID constituted a federal offence and used only one proxy server to prevent him from being caught. The FBI and the Secret Service are already on his tail.
