Samsung's Omnia Debuts in India

Samsung's top of the line, super-phone and a potential iPhone-killer 'Omnia' has made its debut in the Indian market.
Omnia, meaning 'everything' in Latin and 'wish' in Arabic claims to offer far more than the current top-of-the-line features available in mobile phones. The phone (incidentally its model number in the Samsung scheme of things is SGH-i900) is aimed at users who desire a lot of functionality, a lot of style, a lot of usability and a lot of entertainment in a single device. It features the TouchWiz user interface for simple data entering and texting. It offers widgets that can be used to customize and personalize phone usage.
The handset comes equipped with high-resolution touch-sensitive 3.2-inch WQVGA LCD screen that uses tap, sweep, drag and drop operations as well as an on-screen QWERTY keyboard. It has a dedicated dome key for calling and texting. Further, it bundles a 5-megapixel CMOS camera with auto-focus (AF), face detection, smile detection and auto-panorama shot; supports MultiCodec for DivX, Xvid and other video formats; and offers GPS, including navigation and geo-tagging capabilities. Further, Omnia users will be able to switch seamlessly between Microsoft Outlook email and productivity applications that replicate the look and feel of their PC. Based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, users can also access MS Office documents such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Coming to the design, Omnia features an ultra-slim 12.5-mm profile and a platinum-look finish with hairline patterns on the back of the unit.
This flagship model from Samsung is available with 32 GB (16GB Internal Memory + 16 GB Sandisk MicroSD card) and 24 GB Memory (8GB Internal Memory + 16 GB MicroSD Card) and is priced at Rs.39,999 and Rs 37,999, respectively.

Why bother? Wait a few months and they'll reduce the price. If you buy now, all you get is a couple of months bragging rights.

SAMSUNG COMPANY SHOULD DECREASE THIER PRICE OF OMNIA I900 .INSTEAD OF (RS 39,000) IT SHOULD BE (RS 25,OOO) IN INDIAN MARKET.THANKYOU.

At this price, it is NOT going to be an iPhone killer. PS: Why doesn't your captcha ever work the first time? If you have an email ID, please email the same to me and I will send you the screen shots of the error the next time I encounter one. I almost always have to go back and refresh the page for a new captcha that works.

The retailers in Pune have told me that the 16GB model will not be available in India. Moreover, they are not aware of the bundled MicroSD card. Sorry to say, Samsung products' information is very unreliable. They lack transparency.
