According to the offer, if a consumer purchases a Samsung LCD or Plasma television, he is entitled for an assured gift of a Home Theatre, or a DVD player.
Samsung India has announced the launch of a consumer offer for its LCD and Plasma televisions. As per the offer, if a consumer purchases a Samsung LCD or Plasma television, he is entitled for an assured gift of a Home Theatre, or a DVD player.
During the promotion period, a customer who purchases a Samsung Series 6 LCD TV (in 32-, 40-, 46-, and 52-inch screen size) will get a Samsung Home Theatre (HT-TX22) system as a gift. The Samsung Series 6 is priced in the range between Rs. 74,000 to Rs. 300, 000.
A consumer who purchases any of the Series 5 LCD TVs (46-, 40-, 37-, and 32-inch) from Samsung will get a Samsung DVD Player (Pebble). The Samsung Pebble, which is only slightly larger than a DVD disc, has a minimalist design and can up convert standard 480p discs to 720p, 1080i or 1080p. It also features extensive multimedia file playback capability, including DivX, MP3, WMA, MPEG4, and more, says the company.
On purchasing a Series 4 LCD TV from Samsung (40-, 37-, 32-inch) screen sizes will get a Samsung DVD Player (P480) free with every purchase.
A consumer purchasing a 32- or 40-inch Series 3 LCD TV will get a free P182 DVD Player free with every purchase during the Promotion period.
While the Series 4 LCD TVs are available in the price range between Rs. 49,000 to Rs. 85,000, the Series 3 LCD TVs are available in the price range between Rs. 44,000 to Rs. 77,000. The consumer offer is not valid on 22- and 26-inch screen size LCD TVs.
The 2008 DVD line up from Samsung, comprising of models like P480 and P182 are also being given as gifts during the promotion.
The consumer offer extends to Plasma TVs as well. On every purchase of 50-inch Plasma TV from Series 5 or 50- or 42-inch Plasma TV from Series 4, a customer gets a Home Theatre (HT-X20) as gift from the company. Purchase of 42-inch Plasma TV (PS 42A410) from Series 4 will entitle a customer to a gift of a Samsung DVD Player (P182). The Samsung Plasma TV range is priced in the range between Rs. 69,000 to Rs. 140,000.

Most retailers avoid informing customers about such schemes. I am shopping for a Series 4 32" set and have not come across such an offer. Also I find only discount structures - different at different stores and also varying MRPs. The Companies should be more transparent. Their own website at least should give clear MRPs and possible discounts / details of offers.
