Samsung DVD Writer Boasts 22X Speed
Techtree News Staff Email Print
May 8, 2008
Samsung has launched its Super-WriteMaster "SH-S223" boasting 22X data recording speed; this is India's first DVD Writer with such high speed so much so it is claimed to burn data at high speed even on low-speed media.

With such over-speed recording, users can write at 22X speeds on 16X media and 12X speeds on 8X media, Samsung claims. As lower-speed media is less expensive, users can save money while burning discs at faster speeds, the company said.

The "SH-S223" works across a range of data media types such as 22X DVD" R, 12X DVD-RAM, 16X DVD+R Dual Layer, 12X DVD-R Dual Layer, 8X DVD+RW, and 6X DVD-RW. Users would be able to burn 4.7GB on a DVD" R disc in approximately 4 minutes and 26 seconds, which is a 6 percent increase in speed as compared to a 20X DVD writer. In DVD-RAM format, it would take less than 12 minutes to burn 4.7GB; a 30 percent increase over a 20X DVD drive.

"SH-S223" comes with free software enabling users easily create music, videos, photos, and data discs. Users can get firmware updates through the live firmware update program for free. The "SH-S223" is priced at Rs 1,700.
