Homepage has a clean half-box layout style with a lot of empty space at the bottom, with no advertisements
The result of a mission to bring together and organize online information, Sagoon, the beta version of a new search engine, has been released for public testing.
So, does this newbie spell itself as a Google threat?
Not really. In fact, its layout has similarities with Microsoft's Live search. Sagoon features distinctive search for topics in different categories, namely, Web, news, video, directory, and classifieds. This is furthered by tabs and groups in Web results to clarify search topics displaying the most relevant results.

Cuil, started by an ex-Google employee, is another search engine which offers similar capabilities and more.
In fact, Cuil claims to search 3 times more pages on the Web than Google, and ten times as many as Microsoft.
The developers of Sagoon are in the process of adding similar features to their search engine, such as semantic search and natural language processing. This will enable Sagoon to offer artificial intelligence that can understand what exactly the user is looking for. Another Google Search-killer aspirant surfaced last year by the name of Kosmix, an Indian start-up. Kosmix has evolved from its early Beta stage; its categorization engine organizes the Internet into magazine-style topic pages, enabling people to navigate the Web.
And if you're into images, you should try out Hitachi's Gazopa. Even though in Beta phase, this delightful search engine strives to find you any image that you're looking for, and how! This innovative image search engine uses image features such as a color and a shape that are extracted from an image that you draw or upload. With Google Search instilled in our minds, it is difficult to give other newer search engines a serious try -- but when you do, some of them will pleasantly surprise you.
really a nice and innovative tool in this world full of promising search engines....
did use it and found it quite impressive but a bit slow... hopefully it would get to its speed soon since its a beta version so can't expect it to be that fast.....
nice work Sagoon team.. keep it up.. Google pull up your socks ;)
