Computer Kitchen has launched the S-Media 4 GB Microdrive. The 1 inch Microdrive is the smallest hard disk drive capable of storing large amount of high-res data.

Computer Kitchen, the Bangalore based Technology company that provides IT products and solutions, has launched the S-Media 4GB Microdrive. The 1 inch Microdrive is the smallest hard disk drive capable of storing large amount of high-resolution data. The product is capable of handling digital photos and video, MP3 music, electronic games and other large files.

The product is capable of storing thousands of high-resolution images from high Mega-Pixel Digital Cameras, has an enhanced Adaptive Battery Life extender results in lower power consumption and longer battery life, capable of fast transfer of high-capacity files between computers, can be used to back-up or archive large files, can store and access large databases and information (e-mail, presentation, documents, images and games), has the ability to store and use more Software Programs. It allows storage and playback of up to 300 hours of CD quality audio and also has fast access to stored data.

When asked to comment on the potential of the product in India, S.P. Moorthy, G.M., Computer Kitchen said, "With the increase of personal data with most people in terms of pictures, music, video clips etc. we believe that there is a huge growth expected for such products. We also believe that there is a trend of exchange of data amongst people frequently and S-Media 4GB USB drive would be an ideal choice for such purpose. The S-Media 4 GB Microdrive comes in a stylish casing and elegant design. By a press of button the USB end projects out, which is otherwise hidden. We also believe that the thermal design of the casing is one of the best to give a longer life to the product."

The product specifications as per the company are: Capacity: 2GB or 4GB, Interface: USB 2.0 High / Full / Low speed support, Rotational Speed: 4,200 rpm, Dimensions: 7cm (H) x 5cm (W) x 1cm (D) and weighs 54 grams.

According to the company sources, the S-Media Micro drive has some benefits worth mentioning, like its small size and enhanced 4GB capacity permits you to carry an entire continent of maps or 1,000 songs in your pocket, reliable storage for data, photos, music, and videos from digital cameras, PDAs, handheld PCs, MP3 digital audio players, laptops and other portable handheld devices, performance and reliability and the product is more resilient to damage or skipping due to jarring impact that MP3 players are usually exposed to.

The S-Media 4GB Microdrive comes with a 12 months standard warranty but can be extended up to 36 months at a nominal additional cost. S-Media 4GB Microdrive is available at all Computer Kitchen outlets and on www.computerkitchen.com at an MRP of Rs. 9,500 exclusive of taxes.

Where can I get the drive which u pointed out the one @2500

Whatever the GM says, it is wastage to spend on these drives which is costlier, unreliable and consumes power. Hats off to Flash drives.

For such a low weight (54 gms) it is quite worth Rs. 9500. However, I would prefer to have a bulkier but costlier internal HDD made into an external one (Rs. 3000 for 80GB)

sorry, i meant cheaper external HDD, not costlier

Hello badvt this drive is not for middle class people like us. It is for high class people who want to carry a lot of data in a small drive that fits into the shirt or pant pocket easily without any weight. "Any way this is a good product from S-Media"
