As per Internet security company -- Trend Micro, India is the seventh largest spam producer in the world. Amongst Asian countries, India is accused for contributing to four percent of the total global spam, ahead of China, Korea, and Thailand. In total, the sum of spam sent from Asian countries comes to 16.57 per cent. So technically we've jumped over China who incidentally surpassed US in terms of broadband roll out.
To be noted, until August this year China (at 3.49 per cent contribution) was ahead of India (2.99 per cent then). So as per Trend Micro, in almost a month, spam percentage has increased by 1.27 per cent compared to one per cent of last year. In the last month itself, the amount of spam sent from India was even more than the volume of spam sent over the past one year! Something is surely wrong with these numbers...
Back in August, a study suggested that India generated least spam and at that time, the US lead the position for producing maximum spam. However, the Russians might be proud to over take US this month. Take a look at these figures:

I would indeed be sceptical about the report too. And yes i receive a a LOT of spam. But how much of that originates in india i have no idea.
