RealDVD Shut -- For Now

Hollywood studios allege a copyrights violation for which Real Networks was sued
The controversial RealDVD service that was launched a month ago now finds itself in troubled waters -- thanks to the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), which has managed to rein in Real with a court order banning the sale of the product till the court reviews all the papers involved with the case.
The RealDVD service allows users to make an exact - offline -- replica of the DVD disk so that users now no longer have to bear with the eventualities of a misplaced or a scratched disc. The copies are encrypted and then locked so that they cannot be shared. The product also supported saving the copies on an external storage medium with support for up-to five PCs per user -- provided they have an authorized copy of RealDVD.
Hollywood Studios allege a copyrights violation for which Real Networks was sued. Real, who did expect a similar response from the studios had a pre-emptive lawsuit ready against major studios that were up in arms against RealDVD.
As of now, the RealDVD website displays a message saying the service is currently unavailable but displays a defiant massage saying it will -- work diligently -- to provide software that allows to make a legal copy of your favorite DVD.
