Plustek has announced the availability of its business card scanners - the OptiCard 610 and OptiCard 820.

Plustek - a leading manufacturer of imaging devices, has announced the availability of its business card scanners - the OptiCard 610 and OptiCard 820.

The company says its new scanners are among the smallest and lightest ultra-mobile pocket scanners capable of scanning A8-size business cards and converting into databases using the I.R.I.S power BCR technology - said to recognize visiting cards from nearly 53 countries. The databases can be sent to and integrated with Outlook or Outlook Express, as also exported to PDAs or different databases.

OptiCard 610 weighs 78 grams and has a one-button action offering image scan resolution of 600 dpi with scanning speed of 10 pages per minute.

OptiCard 820 weighs 194 grams, has two buttons viz scan and BCR offering image scan resolution of 600 dpi (1200 dpi software interpolated) with scanning speeds of 7 seconds at 300 dpi for the gray mode, and 8 seconds at 300 dpi for the colour mode

Both scanners come bundled with the unique I.R.I.S. Cardiris 3.5 software, which includes powerful features such as drag-and-drop of scanned information from cards to the desired fields, and support for multiple address databases / formats including HTML, Lotus Notes, Outlook 2003, Outlook, Outlook Express, Goldmine, Palm Desktop, ACT! , Text, XML, vCard, etc.

OptiCard 610 and OptiCard 820 also pack software such as Image Folio and Presto! Mr. Photo 3. While Image Folio is a comprehensive multimedia image-processing program, Presto! Mr. Photo 3 is an ideal program for creating, sharing, and managing digital images and videos.

Karen Ku, vice president, Plustek, said, "OptiCard 610 and OptiCard 820 transform the business cards from across the world into editable information. Users feel comfortable in daily management of their contacts with the powerful sort, search and select tools. They circumvent the need for sifting through various card albums for finding a contact detail at any point in time, which results in greater efficiency and time management."

"These scanners being small and light are easy to carry anywhere. However, the small form factor and lightness in no form or manner means any compromise on performance. Both Opticard 610 and OptiCard 820 offer unsurpassed quality and value to the customers," Ku said.

Opticard 610 and OptiCard 820 are available through the company's national distributor - TelExcell Information Systems, at prices of Rs 2,900 plus taxes and Rs 4,600 plus taxes respectively. Both come with a carrying pouch with separate compartments for the scanner and the USB cable.
