Midway Games has announced that four new limited Premium Editions of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will be available for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, beginning October 9, 2006.

The other announcement was that the game, which is currently under development at Midway's Chicago studio, will be likely available for the Nintendo Wii gaming console in Q1 2007. The Xbox version of the fighting franchise is scheduled for release later this year.

Further, three out of the four Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Premium Editions available for PlayStation2 will sport specialized metallic packaging covers highlighting some of the game's awesome twosomes, including Sindel & Shao Kahn, Johnny Cage & Goro, and Kano & Sonya.

Whereas the fourth Premium Edition will feature general artwork for the game on metallic packaging.

The Premium Edition sets will ship for a suggested retail price of $49.95, and will include an arcade-perfect playable of the original Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, as also over 60 minutes of DVD video content featuring the movie, "History of Fatalities," plus new videos of over 50 Mortal Kombat characters.

The company will release further details of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for the Wii later this year.
