As reported by Digitimes, Nvidia and Intel are planning to work together to bring in Nvidia's MCP79 chips to support Intel's Atom platform. PC vendors in the know said that both silicon majors are working towards it. However, this support will initially be applicable only to nettops.
OEMs like Asustek Computer, Gigabyte Technology, and Micro-Star International (MSI) expressed positive sentiments about this collaboration and expect it to bring them more flexibility in pricing.
Previously, Digitimes had reported that Nvidia had called off the joint development deal over MCP79 for netbooks with Via Technologies.
No official word is available from either Nvidia or Intel about their plans to work together. We'll update you as and when we get more details.
