Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang visited Dubai recently and carried along a mysterious tablet during media interaction. Shufflegazine was lucky enough to capture the mysterious tablet during a talk with Huang. After a speech at the University of Dubai, Huang interacted with Shufflegazine and talked about his love for Apple platform.
Recently, Huang had scrapped all rumors about Nvidia working on x86 platform chip to compete Intel.
Here is Huang's quote to Shufflegazine:
Apple uses the best technology for their [computers]. Apple says to their customers: if you buy a computer from us you can be sure we have selected the best technology inside for you. That is their promise to consumers. Their promise to consumers isn't we've selected the best technology for you with the exception of what Intel allows us to use. That's not their promise. And that's why Apple uses the best technology where they want whenever they want. And that's why I'm all Apple! At home it's just Macs everywhere. It's NVIDIA's technology in all of them but I use Macs. My son has two Macs, my daughter has a Mac, there's an extra Mac just in case and my wife has a Mac. It's just Mac, Mac, Mac! Because I know it's got the best stuff inside.
Huang further said that Apple wants to differentiate technology used in computers while Intel wants to standardize it. While being so pro-Apple, a mysterious tablet was placed close to him on the table.
The mysterious tablet had no labels but showed something being played on the display. Back in April, Mike Rayfield, told Hexus that Nvidia's Tegra chip will soon hit "media pads". These "media pads" would be 3G capable and have a touchscreen (multi-touch probably) between 7 to 13 inches. This media pad is being hinted to the information leaked by Verizon guys when Apple was calimed to be in talks them. Also, this might be the Mac tablet that Apple is rumored to be working on.
The tablet shown in the image has one Home button with red colored layer around it. Possibly, this could be a prototype for yet another UMPC or handheld tablet by any other company. Considering the recent Aluminum unibody bearing Mac lineup, Apple is unlikely to use a red colored rim around the Home button.
So far, Nvidia hasn't divulged any information regarding the tablet but hawk eyes will surely watch its activities closely.
I originally heard that Nvidia was making the graphics card for the Apple iSlate. islate.org
