Now an iPod Look Alike from Sandisk

With around 3.1-inches length, 1.9-inches breadth, and 0.3-inches thickness -- the "Sansa Fuze" looks and feels like -- Apple's iPod Nano.

Apple's iPod's got a twin, or so it seems...

Sandisk has introduced its "Sansa Fuze", available in 2, 4, and 8GB capacities, and priced at $80 (Rs 3,200 approx), $100 (Rs 4,000 approx), and $130 (Rs 5,200 approx) respectively.

The device is set for launch in the US in April, while Europe and Canada will get it later this year in spring.

With around 3.1-inches length, 1.9-inches breadth, and 0.3-inches thickness -- the "Sansa Fuze" looks and feels like -- Apple's iPod Nano (comes with similar jog dial controls as well).

Features of the "Sansa Fuze" include: FM radio, microSD card slot, voice recorder, and 1.9-inches color screen that can play videos in landscape mode. It can communicate with services including Rhapsody to Go, Napster, and eMusic, and supports MP3, WAV, Audible, WMA, MPEG-4, and JPEG formats. The "Fuze" is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

Sandisk claims the rechargeable battery of the "Fuze" is capable of 24 hours of audio and five hours of video playback while the "Fuze" itself is capable of storing up to 2,000 songs (in 8GB capacity).

Why would it be a likely competitor to the iPod Nano? Besides being a look-alike of the iPod Nano, the "Sansa Fuze" has features like microSD slot, FM tuner, and voice recorder which the Nano doesn't. Incidentally, the "Fuze" is the latest in a line of players from Sandisk such as 'View' and 'Click' that are also competitors to Apple's low-end iPod Shuffle.

The 2GB model is black, the 4GB model comes in black, red, pink, or blue, while the 8GB model is silver. The device will ship with a one-year warranty.

ear phones of sansa are worst in the market. They have hard edges which cause lot of pain. Atleast they should look for ergonomic than mimicking their competitors

And 'Fuze' looks an awful lot like 'Zune.' Maybe both MicroSoft and Apple will sue them
