Nokia to Now Come with Music

Techtree News Staff, Apr 23, 2008 1258 hrs IST

Under this program, consumers who buy a "Nokia Comes With Music" phone will have access to unlimited downloads of tracks from the Sony BMG music catalog.

Nokia has joined hands with Sony BMG for its new initiative, "Nokia Comes With Music" created to allow users of select Nokia mobile phones access the entire Sony BMG music catalog.

Under this program, consumers who buy a "Nokia Comes With Music" phone will have access to unlimited downloads of tracks from the Sony BMG music catalog including those by artists like Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, and Bruce Springsteen available through the Nokia Music Store for the first whole year of owning the phone.

At the end of one year, users will not lose their collection; they will be able to retain downloaded tracks and transfer them on to newer compatible devices. They can opt to continue getting music even after the subscription period is over. And they can continue purchasing additional tracks from the Nokia Music Store else move on to a Nokia "unlimited access" subscription service.

The "Nokia Comes With Music" program is expected to launch in the second half of 2008 on a range of Nokia devices in select markets across the globe. There is no revealing yet which phones will be part of the program.
