The Finnish phone maker is gearing up with an answer to Apple's iPhone.
Apple could be called the "pied-piper" of some technologies. First it was their iPod blueprint that was vehemently being aped by companies big and small; now it's the turn of their multi-touch interface iPhone to pull crowd.
After Samsung, LG, HTC, and Sony Ericsson; now Nokia has announced that it is gearing up with an answer for the iPhone. Reportedly, Nokia's multi-touch interface bearing phone codenamed "Tube" was shown on a slide at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference in Redwood City, California.
There's nothing special one could say about "Tube" other than the fact that it looks unsurprisingly similar to the iPhone -- if the pictures of "Tube" that are now doing the rounds of the Internet are indeed to be believed.
"Tube" will function on the latest Symbian Series 60 platform. It will also support Java, and is likely to have HSPDA, WLAN, and uPnP connectivity options. The phone will sport a 5 mega pixels camera as well.
Apple claims it has sold over 4 million iPhones till date; the company's spokesman has confirmed that Apple expects to sell 10 million iPhones this year. It is not a surprise that other phone makers are dreaming to achieve similar or better targets.
Nokia currently hogs a little more than fifty percent of the world's market share when it comes to the sale of wireless devices. With "Tube" expected to be launched in the next couple of months (the iPhone is expected to legally hit the Indian market around the same time); will the Finnish phone maker be able to add its upcoming multi-touch phone to its long list of hot sellers? Or will it simply succumb to the hype that is the iPhone?
Are you just speculating that the iPhone will hit indian shores

Nokia phone sucks. Most importantly the Nokia care centers in India is with full of useless idiots and cheats. If you buy a Nokia phone and end up with a problem then thats the end of it. I would definitely not buy a Nokia ever; whatever may be the feature they provide with whatever cost. Nokia sucks.

I cant understand, why Nokia wants to copy i Phone instead of launching some better models than i Phone!!! There is nothing special in i Phones,Nokia N95 series phones are much much better in all aspects.Nokia should try to bring some window smart phones as well and also try to launch Chip running phones ASAP with huge storage capacity and big touch screen.I am sure people will forget about i Phones....
