Nokia Tablet to Offer 3G, Hi-Def Videos

The next iteration of the Nokia Internet Tablet might well support 3G connectivity, 720p videos, and shader based games
At the Open Source in Mobile World conference, Dr. Ari Jaaksi, director for Open Source Operations, Nokia spoke about future plans for the Maemo Internet Tablet OS and shared few details pertaining to the upcoming Maemo 5 release. Nokia's Internet Tablet will get 3G support with HSPA (High Speed Packet Access), TI OMAP 3 processor for higher speed.
The TI OMAP 3 processor is capable of playing HD 720p video, supports 12-MP camera and will also lend support to Shader Model 3 based games. Hence Nokia's Internet Tablet will get hi-def Video and photo-sharing with high-definition camera. It's possible that it will also support games based on the aforementioned Shader Model 3.
Nokia also contributed code for 3G/HSPA data connectivity using the TI OMAP 3 processor for the Linux Kernel, and also became a Gold Sponsor for the Linux Foundation.
The future of Mobile Internet Devices looks interesting with developments from Nokia's end. Many OEMs such as Asus, HP, Intel, Fujitsu and more will join this MID race in the coming year. Let's hope India gets its 3G and soon.
