Nokia 5800 Gets First Firmware Update

Updated firmware version v11.0.008 for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic contains bug fixes and is available at select regions

Days after the launch of the device here in India, it's already time for the first major software update for Nokia's first S60 touchscreen!

Nokia has released an updated firmware version v11.0.008 for the 5800 XpressMusic days after its launch. The update contains quite a few bug fixes and is available at select regions now. Some people were able to update to this version as early as 9 December 2008. However, it seems that it is now that Nokia has decided to widen the availability of the update. Asian versions of the phone will soon get the update and users would be able to update it online using the Nokia Software Update (NSU) program.

The update features UDP (User Data Preservation), which means your data will remain safe post the update. However, it is always a good idea to backup your stuff prior to the update. The entire change log can be found here.

I have found it almost impossible to downoad the first firmware. Is there a champion out there who can advise on the sure way of doing it. SOS?

Came to know that the update is already included in the Indian xpress music handsets. the present update is doe handsets outside India. If its true, ples clarify.. can anybody do that?
