Is Sony too busy concentrating on Android?

Sony Ericsson's once flagship handset is well on its course to doom now that the handset maker has confirmed that the device won't be getting a fresh lease of life with Windows Mobile 6.5.

The company has confirmed that it will not be offering an OS update to the handset quashing rumors of the same. This would be undoubtedly be a big blow to the users of this device which until a few months was the one of the most expensive Sony Ericsson handsets one could buy. While the update to WinMo 6.5 wouldn't have made it anymore spectacular than it is now, it certainly would have been given the handset a fresh lease of life. Sony Ericsson already has the Xperia X2 on sale - which is believed to be the last WinMo powered device from the company. Sony Ericsson seems to be too busy concentrating on Android and the likes of the Xperia X10.

While unofficial WinMo 6.5 ROM updates for the Xperia X1 are already available, using them would come with its own share of pitfalls since they would have issues with the old drivers of the X1. So, is this the official goodbye to the Xperia X1 from Sony?

well its the only way Sony will be able to force people to buy the x2 because the x1 is a much better product, also the cooked 6.5 roms for x1 was designed for the x1 so the drivers are very compatible..not true what the article says, it feels like sony are always doing their customers in.Thats why I rather support htc

over the period I too have felt that SONY is focusing more in introducing new ranges in every product than giving priority to quality service to the customer
