Gaming enthusiasts around the world might soon get to see a new PlayStation3 (PS3) gaming console with a larger hard disk drive (HDD).

If reports are to be believed, Sony is considering launching a larger capacity PS3 for hardcore gamers who want to store loads of games, music, and video on their consoles.
As of now, Sony has two PS3 models with 20GB and 60GB HDD. However, reports say the company plans to discontinue the 20GB model in North America, the reason being users' preference for the larger 60GB model over 20GB, given the near similar pricing of the two models.
Taking a cue from gamers, Sony feels that just as the 20GB model is proving too small for gamers, eventually, the same might happen to the 60GB model as well...
A spokesperson for Sony even said that there will be potential changes in the new PS3, apart from just a larger HDD. However, core components will not change, neither will the Cell, RSX, Blu-ray drive, and network capabilities.
Packing advanced features in the PS3 has come at a cost for Sony, which is faced with increasing costs and sales losses to the tune of over $1.7 billion for the year ended March 31.
Seems Sony is comtemplating its latest move to offset these losses or/and to counter the upcoming launch of Microsoft's new 120GB Xbox 360...
