The BenQ CP220C is a portable DLP; the Epson EMP-1825 can function wirelessly off a Vista computer

Two new projectors are now available in the Indian market: the BenQ CP220C, a portable DLP model, and the Epson EMP-1825, a wireless projector that can function without PC intervention. The BenQ product is of the size of a B5 paper; the wireless model from Epson is being promoted as a multimedia business projector.

The BenQ CP220C has a Carl Zeiss lens. Native resolution is XGA (1024 x 768); rated brightness is 2000 lumens; and rated contrast ratio is 700:1. The real-time Auto-Keystone technology automatically checks the projector's tilting angle and corrects the projected image without any need for user intervention, BenQ says.

The projector features a cool-off-and-go function that makes it cool down quickly. It also features HDTV compatibility, nine application modes, a sliding lens cover, a spring-adjustable foot, password protection, and auto source detection. This model is available at BenQ IT zones and through BenQ dealers for Rs 58,990.

Meanwhile, the EMP-1825 from Epson is of the 3LCD type. It, too, is a compact projector; it can function wirelessly with a Vista computer, and can run a presentation without being connected to a computer at all. Rated lamp brightness is 3,500 lumens. The projector features a full range of regular connection ports including USB 2.0. The integrated internal Compact Flash card slot and USB port allow PC-less functioning.

The multi-screen display functionality of the EMP-1825 enables several projectors to be used in conjunction with one computer, creating larger, panoramic, or split-screen displays. In fact, the EMP Monitor software lets users monitor and manage up to 1,024 networked projectors from one location.

This projector is also capable of receiving and playing movie files with sound without external speakers. The Epson EMP 1825 is priced at Rs 1,42,700.
