Adobe has announced new optimized Flash player technology that will enable search engines to index Flash-based Web sites.
Up until now it's been extremely challenging to search rich Internet applications (RIAs) and dynamic content on the Web because Web sites created using Flash (SWF) do not get listed in the search results of search engines like Gooogle, Yahoo!, and MSN.
To tackle this problem, Adobe has announced new optimized Flash player technology that will enable search engines to index Flash-based Web sites. The problem currently is that search engines can see the Flash file but cannot see the content inside. The new technology will enable search engines to uncover information that is currently difficult to uncover.
For starters, Adobe has teamed up with Google and Yahoo! to bring this technology into use, thus arming them to offer even more relevant automatic search rankings of RIAs and other dynamic content that run in Flash Player. Meanwhile, developers of RIAs and rich Web content need not worry about amending their existing and future content to make it search-able, as it will automatically get listed with the help of this new technology.
Google has already begun to roll-out the new Adobe Flash Player technology incorporated into its search engine. Yahoo! too is planning to bring this technology into use in a future update to Yahoo! Search. For end consumers, this will only mean the ability to find more relevant information when doing search.
