New Chatbot Closer To Passing Turing AI Test

Almost as annoying as a human
For many years, scientists have coveted the Loebner Prize for artificial intelligence, trying to create the first program that will fool humans into believing that it's human too. Once such project is ALICE, a bot you might have interacted with from time to time. The ALICE engine is often used in IRC chatrooms as a gag, and many people will have long conversations with her before realizing that they re not talking to a human.
The Loebner Prize is given to the bot that can fool 30% of the jury of 12 into believing that it's human; so far, none has received the honors, but Elbot managed to fool three judges (25%), coming closer to the prize than any bot in history.
Elbot can be unpredictable at times, much like us the first time we asked him whether he wanted to take over the world, he chose to avoid the question totally, saying something like "The world is a wonderful place." The second attempt, however, resulted in a more ominous answer: "Fix it up a bit first. Then I'll take it over."
In general, though, Elbot is more annoying than most humans I know, which is probably why people can be fooled into believing his humanity.
