Currently in its 11th year running, America Online's (AOL) media player Winamp has come a long way. From being a basic player to a media player that not only offers features that include managing and playing audio and video files, it also allows users to rip and burn CDs, listen to free music as well as access and share music.

Here are some new additions to the popular media player:

1. MiniTube Yes, you've almost guessed it right; this is a plug-in which will let you enjoy videos from YouTube. To be precise, this tool will play related videos from YouTube of the song that the user is listening to on Winamp.

You could expect updates to MiniTube in the form of full screen videos and video downloads in the future, says the company.

2. Now Playing The 'now playing' feature gives users information on artists - songs, photos, videos, biography and related radio stations. Users can now listen to songs as well as buy them online.

3. Other recent updates to Winamp include a support that has been added to allow users to share their media library to their gaming consoles on the same network through Winamp Remote. This was created through a partnership with Orb. The same extension allows users to access their media library anywhere with an Internet connection.
