Napster Opens Online MP3 Store

All Napster downloads will now be in the user-friendly, DRM-free, MP3 format.

Napster has announced the launch of it's online MP3 store. The company claims the store is the world's largest, most comprehensive, all MP3 store with the largest MP3 catalog in the industry.

So, all Napster downloads will now be in the user-friendly, DRM-free MP3 format, which is compatible with virtually any MP3 player or music phone including the iPod and the iPhone.

Pricing for downloads will be 99 cents for single MP3 tracks and $9.95 for most MP3 albums. The vast majority of the MP3 catalog will be available at high-quality 256 kbps bitrate.

Customers can visit the online MP3 store without any obligation or commitment. They can choose to subscribe to Napster's on-demand streaming service, which is Web-based and accessible from any Internet-connected computer without downloading software.
