The service promises to deliver on the larger Internet promise of super customization by letting users select from any site that provides RSS feeds...
Celebrating 60 years of independence, Indiatimes.com is launching a service which it says will give each individual the freeedom to personalize the World Wide Web.
'My.indiatimes.com' will empower users with a single window for all their content to reside within.
The service promises to deliver on the larger Internet promise of super customization by letting users select from any site that provides RSS feeds, and customize so as to get featured on their page.
The page is changeable -- users can drag and drop boxes, delete content at will, and add whatever they prefer from anywhere around the Web.
All users need do is sign-in with their Indiatimes id, add content, and save their page. As such, they can access the page from anywhere simply by logging-in. And they can change preferences as often as they wish.
Elaborating on the service, Dinesh Wadhawan, managing director and chief executive officer of Times Internet, said, "the consumption of Internet is a very individual process; merely providing one kind of content for all does not work. Here every individual is a niche; his needs have to be met. 'My.indiatimes.com' is our attempt to do just that."

Indiatimes always love to bang their own drums - as it is the site looks horribly cluttered with no clear focus or direction. And cloning google cannot be claimed as something unique.

Indiatimes should be ashamed about coming up with this so late. Fools. People have already gone with my.yahoo.com. igoogle, live etc.

Indiatimes is the biggest spammer and the only known spammer who spams their own users with thier own ads.

Great idea & strategy, but make sure to handle this idea properly to make it long lasting plan to bring indiatimes name among top few. All the best & keep it up, as IndiaTimes.com has improved a lot since it started few years ago.

When would India Inc start coming up with innovative and fresh ideas, instead of just copying what is happening in the world for quite some time.

Its an awesome feat. Kudos to Indiatimes. The Beta version seems astoundingly userfriendly. They need to add more widgets though.

They advertise for unlimited Inbox but inside you get only 6MB for mail and 20 MB for briefcase? Why they fool customers? This shows that they do not have capacity to serve as Google?

Indiatimes seems to be hell bend on copying Yahoo and google ideas and sites as it is with very little effort to put in their own creativity.Be it the style of my.indiatimes or the yahoo images used on their main site they just blindly pickup stuff.

no big deal.its easier to put the rss feeds as a bookmark than putting it in a webpage of "yet another" portal.
