MySpace's New Look En Route

The social networking site will see changes in areas like the homepage, search, navigation, profile editing, and video compatibility
News Corp's MySpace developers have planned a major redesign for the website to attract more casual users, along with the objective to them glued to the site for longer duration.
Majority of changes will take place for the homepage, search, navigation, profile editing, and video compatibility.
Among the new features to be added: members will be able to have their online friends split into different categories. Also, simplified search options will make possible browsing the results in categories like people, music, video, MySpace site, and the Web in general.
Profile editing tool will been simplified for first-time users, while those with advanced skills will be able to manipulate HTML code. A sidebar library will enable altering themes, color palettes, images and borders with a point-and-click function.
Additionally, embeddable MySpace TV player will support high-definition videos and allow full-screen view of videos. With this video player, MySpace directly aims to compete with YouTube.
Last month, Facebook had also announced a redesign campaign for their website. According to data released by Comscore, Facebook has managed to catch up with MySpace in terms of unique visitors worldwide on monthly basis. Could the redesign help MySpace to continue leading the social networking chart?
