With MySpace supporting Open ID, the total count of Open ID supported accounts goes up to over half a billion.
As reported in TechCruch, social networking giant Myspace is expected to announce support for the Open ID single sign-on framework.
MySpace, with its 200 million plus accounts will make it the second largest implementation ever of the OpenID framework. Earlier this year, Yahoo announced initial OpenID support. With over 250 million or so Yahoo accounts, the total number of Open ID-enabled accounts is over half a billion! Other providers who support the OpenID framework include Google (with Blogger support), AOL, Microsoft, Symantec, SourceForge etc.
There are two ways of implementing the Open ID framework. One is to be an "Issuing Party", where all the accounts are made Open ID compatible. The other way is to be a "Relying Party" who will allow users to sign into their websites with credentials from issuing parties.
