Riding the wave of success following the launch of its RAZR handset, Motorola India roped-in Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor to launch its oval-shaped PEBL handset, which the company says draws inspiration from the look and feel of a pebble alias a rounded stone worn smooth by water.
While "chiselled, thin and defined" are attributes one would associate with the RAZR, the PEBL borders on a "round and smoothed" design form.
Motorola says its PEBL features the world's first automated opening mechanism that can be operated both with one hand as also with integrated Bluetooth wireless technology. The handset also incorporates advanced voice recognition, up to 5MB of memory and VGA camera among other features.
Allen Burnes, corporate vice president - high growth markets, Motorola India, said, "The PEBL reflects the ingenuity of design and technological advancement associated with Motorola. Following the success of the RAZR and SLVR, the PEBL is yet another iconic phone from Motorola combining form with functionality."
Lloyd Mathias, director marketing - mobile devices, Motorola India, expressed delight at having the new PEBL advertising campaign directed by renowned filmmaker David Fincher of Panic Room, Fight Club and Seven fame.
PEBL is available at all Motorola outlets at an affordable price of Rs 10,990 per piece. Presently launched in black and red colors, the handset is expected to be shortly available in four more colors; blue, orange, pink and green.

Thick-early 2005 fone , now dumped on India- perhaps ok looking- poor fucntionality-poor cam- will result in low sales Moto-!!! U guys need a person who can give U realistic indian market sales projections, Moto will be lucky to sell a few thousand of these.

What will you do with just 5MB of memory on the PEBL. Form is allright but someone forgot function. And no matter how good the ad campaign might be, if the product aint good enough its a criminal wastage of money.
