Andro-moto?
Apparently, one of the companies paying close attention at the launch of the G1 has been Motorola. And turns out they might have more hope for the platform than we do. The company is one of the original partners in the Open Handset Alliance, and already boasts a team of 50 developers dedicated to the Android platform. Now, rumors say that the company's going to grow that team to 350.
Of course, we're not too surprised. Motorola was one of the first phone manufacturers to use Linux on its handsets (very few do so even now), and even though the results were less than impressive, it goes to show the company's commitment to open platforms. With a development team that large though, we're hoping they'll come up with something that isn't the patchy affair that the G1's interface is right now.
People from Nokia have also been spotted at an Android developer conference, which may indicate their interest as well. However, now that Nokia completely owns Symbian, they don't have to pay anyone licensing fees (that's one of the advantages of open platforms), so any Android-based phones they plan won't take priority over the Symbian-based.

>> Given that Android is the only phone platform that has any hope of reaching iPhone-like goodness Pls define iPhone-like goodness. And pls define how you arrived on this conclusion.
