The Explorer Mini Mouse from Microsoft uses a blue optical sensor based tracking technology called BlueTrack, which is expected to offer better accuracy and acceleration on various surfaces such as wood, granite or a carpet.
Recently we reported that the computer mouse would soon become extinct with new human-computer interaction technologies cropping up. Looks like Microsoft is thinking along similar lines too. Check out the announcement on the Microsoft Hardware page which says '9.9.08 - Say Good Bye to Laser'. What does this mean? We'll have to wait until Microsoft reveals more than this teaser.
