Maxtor Corporation has announced a new family of OneTouch III external storage and backup solutions for home users and business executives.

Maxtor Corporation has announced a new family of OneTouch III external storage and backup solutions that offer a range of features, capacities, and performance for home users, creative professionals, and business executives.

Maxtor's OneTouch III storage solutions have capacities ranging from 100GB to one terabyte, and provide easy-to-use automated backup as also restore capabilities for PC and Mac users.

New software tools, including Sync that synchronizes data between two or more computers on the same operating platform, and a System Rollback feature that helps return PC systems to a healthier state after damaging spyware attacks, are now integrated into this family of products.

In order to meet the needs of mainstream creative and business professionals, Maxtor is offering the OneTouch III solutions with dual interfaces, FireWire 400, and USB 2.0, for quick and easy back up of photos, music, and data.

Moreover, the expanded Maxtor family sports an innovative new industrial design, an improved consumer-friendly user interface, and a re-designed retail package. It also features improved acoustics, an inner disk drive casing, and shock mounts for additional durability and drive protection.

The new system also comes with an added data security feature called Maxtor DriveLock, which provides a password protection option to safeguard contents if the drive is ever lost or stolen.

Announcing the product, Yogesh Kamat, country manager - Indian Subcontinent, Maxtor, said that digital entertainment and data have become absolutely integral to everyday lives, for people and businesses, but that the vast majority of them still don't protect valuable files by backing them up.

The Maxtor OneTouch III line will be available at the end of Q1 2006, at major retailers, distributors, and online stores.

The OneTouch III USB 2.0 drives are priced at Rs 9,300 for the 200GB; Rs 13,000 for the 300GB; and Rs 16,500 for the 500GB solution. The retail price for the 600GB Turbo Edition is Rs 26,000, whereas that for the ITB Drives is Rs 40,000.
