MapmyIndia has announced addition of detailed maps to its navigation device, MapmyIndia Navigator. With this, MapmyIndia Navigator 2.0 now offers street-level maps for 174 cities of India. In comparison, others offer navigation on phones and devices with limited and basic maps for only 6 to 30 cities, claims the company. The release is aimed at Indian consumers living and traveling beyond the metros, who can benefit from the convenience and comfort of full-featured GPS navigation. Existing MapmyIndia Navigator owners can upgrade to version 2.0 for free. The service offers over 4,50,000 points of interest, such as ATMs, restaurants, hotels, etc. People can conveniently search for nearby places and get information about those places as well, says the company. The satellite-connected device shows you in real-time where you are and in which direction you are headed, besides giving you accurate and detailed turn-by-turn voice and map instructions to reach your destination. MapmyIndia Navigator is available across India, at General Motors car dealerships, car accessory outlets, and consumer electronics retail chains and outlets. The device can also be purchased from MapmyIndia directly, either online or via calling MapmyIndia Customer Care. Two hardware models of MapmyIndia Navigator are available: AMAX 06GP5A for Rs 17,990 and Delphi NAV 200 for Rs 20,990.

Beware. You cannot install this software into your phone or other device. The company refuses to provide you the license key that would enable that to be done. The s/w can only be used with the supplied card. This then prevents the use of your card for storage of other media.
