Malintent Will Make you Sweat

Malintent Will Make you Sweat

A scanner being tested by the Homeland Security (US) to detect harmful intent

Gone are the days when bags were checked at airports for security reasons. No wait, those days are still here. But not for long, if tech has its day: Now a potential security threat can be detected simply by reading the mind of the person.

The Department of Homeland Security in the US is testing a new security system, which is actually a body scanner, that can read the mind. Dubbed Malintent, this scanner searches the human body for non-verbal cues to determine if said body intends to harm fellow bodies.

Malintent is equipped with a series of sensors and imagers that can read body temperature, heart rate, and respiration for unconscious tells invisible to the naked eye -- signals terrorists and criminals may display in advance of an attack. These sensors work without any actual physical contact (read: freedom from cavity searches).

And if you've just jogged to the airport on a hot summer day because you were late to your flight... well, let's just say there will be much snapping of surgical gloves in your future.
