Released a day before MacWorld, Picasa features collage-maker, face-recognition, and caption adding tools
Google has finally released the Picasa beta for the Mac platform, earlier limited to the Windows and the Linux platforms, as posted on their Google Blog. The Mac version has the features of the Picasa 3 beta for Windows inbuilt into it. Auto-syncing of changes made in albums saved on a desktop with changes made in online albums, face recognition, collage-maker, adding text to photos, etc. are a few of the many features incorporated into this photo editing, uploading, and cataloging program.
Google had already released the Picasa Web Albums uploader and iPhoto plugin for Mac machines. The user interface of Picasa for Mac is similar to their Windows and Linux versions. However, Picasa's Mac version offers cautionary alerts and plays smart with existing image libraries. If one wants to use iPhoto for editing images, Picasa will ask to copy those images to its library, thereby leaving the iPhoto copies unaffected as well as separate.
Now, Picasa's Mac version recognizes Apple iPhone and iPod Touch immediately. Released a day before MacWorld, Google Labs aims to get user feedback and bug reports for improving the Picasa Mac version.
