MTNL Delhi has launched a new value-added service called "Sarv Bhasha Sandesh", which would enable its customers to send SMSes in 11 Indian languages.

This multi-lingual SMS service will support regional languages, including Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, and Punjabi.

To activate the service, customers will have to download the language-specific application developed by Geneva Software Technologies onto a GPRS-enabled handset. The application can also be downloaded onto a handset with Bluetooth, infra-red, or cable facility.

Dolphin postpaid users will be charged Re 1 per SMS, both local and STD; while Trump prepaid users will be charged Rs 2 per SMS.

With the launch of this service, MTNL is expecting a growth of almost 10 percent in the number of SMSes sent from its network.

In addition, MTNL is also planning to add about 50,000 Broadband customers by March 2008.

We, in BSNL are already provided with this Geneva Software Technologies. And To Type one word in Indian languages you have to struggle for hours. It is known only for those who write the programme. Totally NOT USER-FRIENDLY. For the past two months I am trying to type ane single word in it but failing till this day.
